The Keshi pearl at the centre of this necklace is 25mm, large enough that its shape is the first thing you see. One end is a smooth, bulbous dome in deep warm champagne-gold. The other end opens into a rippled, sculptural wing of folded nacre in rose-pink, lavender-mauve and flashes of silver-white. Together they look like something between a cloud and a flame. The colour shifts continuously with the light and the angle: champagne in warm light, pink in cool light, violet in shade, white in direct sun.
It is threaded directly onto a fine gold-filled cable chain and sits at the collarbone on a 39cm length. The chain disappears. The pearl floats.
