It starts with sixteen 8 mm blue jasper beads, cool, matte, and quietly varied in tone along the strand. Between them: eleven 6 mm carnelian beads, warm and translucent orange-red; four 8 mm yellow topaz beads that catch light with a golden warmth; and five small 4 mm white baroque pearls, the most delicate thing on the strand, sitting like punctuation between all that warm and cool stone. The necklace closes with an 18k gold-plated stainless steel clasp.
