Some changes happen quietly.

23 October – 21 November

You begin to question things you once accepted. You recognise that certain relationships no longer feel right. You discover that the person you have become is different from the person you were expected to be.

And slowly, you begin to choose your own path.

In astrology, Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac. A water sign traditionally ruled by Mars and, in modern astrology, Pluto, Scorpio is associated with intensity, emotional depth, determination and transformation.

Represented by the Scorpion, this sign carries a powerful symbolism: protecting what matters, seeing beneath the surface and finding the strength to move forward when life changes.

Sometimes, beginning again means letting go of what no longer belongs in your life.

The Scorpio woman: intense, perceptive and resilient

Scorpio is frequently linked with women who prize honesty, loyalty and genuine connections. They might choose a small number of close relationships over a large number of acquaintances and will take some time before allowing others to see their more vulnerable side.

Scorpio often symbolises personal transformation; the moments when life asks us to reconsider who we are and what we truly want.

For many women, those moments arrive during midlife.

The priorities that once shaped every decision may begin to shift. You may find yourself questioning old expectations, discovering new interests or becoming less willing to ignore your own needs.

This isn't necessarily about becoming a different person.

It can be about getting closer to the person you have always been.

Natural stones associated with Scorpio

Several stones are associated with Scorpio in modern crystal traditions. Their meanings are symbolic and vary between sources.

Garnet — Garnet is admired for its deep red colour, ranging from bright crimson to rich wine tones. It is traditionally associated with passion, determination and devotion.

Obsidian — Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass, usually deep black. In crystal traditions, it is associated with protection, introspection and facing difficult truths.

Labradorite — Labradorite is known for flashes of blue, green, gold, and other colours that appear as light moves across its surface. It is often associated symbolically with transformation, intuition and new possibilities.

Each stone has its own visual character, from garnet's intensity to obsidian's dark simplicity and labradorite's changing colours.

Why pearls suit Scorpio

Compared with Scorpio's dramatic symbolism, pearls might appear delicate, but this contrast is what makes them appealing.

Deep green, blue, and purple tones appear in a dark peacock pearl. A black Tahitian pearl can be very striking, while an irregular baroque pearl can feel bold and sculptural.

Paired with garnet, pearls create a rich combination of colour and lustre. Combined with labradorite, they bring together different textures and flashes of light.

And then there is the beauty of contrast itself: softness alongside strength, light alongside shadow, elegance alongside individuality.

Jewellery doesn't have to tell just one story.

Jewellery with character and meaning

At Pearl Art Nature, I hand-make one-of-a-kind jewellery in the UK using genuine pearls and natural stones. Read more about why I choose natural materials in my journal.

I am drawn to materials with their own distinctive character. A pearl's natural shape, a gemstone's markings or the unexpected flash of colour in labradorite can influence the entire design.

For me, handmade jewellery is not about making every piece identical. It is about bringing individual materials together in a way that feels considered and personal.

You might choose a dark, dramatic piece because it reflects your style. Or you might love the colour, texture and way it catches the light.

You don't need to explain your choices to anyone else.

A little thought to take with you

Scorpio reminds us that transformation isn't always comfortable, but it can make space for something new.

You are allowed to outgrow old expectations. You can change your mind about what matters. You are allowed to leave behind versions of yourself that were shaped by other people's opinions.

You don't have to remain the person you were simply because that is the person everyone remembers.

Every stage of life can reveal something new about you.

Sometimes, your next chapter begins when you finally permit yourself to let go of the old one.

Discover your own story with Pearl Art Nature, where genuine pearls and natural stones come together in one-of-a-kind handmade jewellery.
